Concept & design - Buket Mihrinnisa Uygur

National Concerts is an ambitious and innovative organizing company that offers unrivaled performance experiences for choirs, groups, and orchestras at renowned venues across the United States.

The “Reflections on Unity” performance was a unity concert featuring choirs and a woodwind orchestra at Carnegie Hall. The concert featured projection, dynamic lighting, dance, and a world premiere. This event aimed to move beyond discussions of unity and instead actively embody and celebrate the concept through the power of collective musical performance.

My job was to create the concept for the concert that aims to move beyond platitudes and foster real connection and understanding at a time when our society feels increasingly divided. National concert imagined this concert as a microcosm of society, where individual voices come together to form a harmonious whole.

My design conveyed the essence of the “Reflections on Unity” concert by visually representing growth, connection, and harmony themes. The integration of elements of nature and human action served as a powerful and evocative symbol of the concert’s message. With its roots, transforming branches, and perched birds, I think the tree served as a poignant reminder of the rugged beauty we can achieve when we come together, respecting and cultivating each other’s unique contributions to creating something greater than ourselves.
